While some developers managed to release Linux on Mac M1 by the end of 2021, there was no installer suitable for the general public before that. Boot Camp is no longer available with the new Apple Silicon Mac and MacBook PCs. Modern computers are up and running quickly, but it took a few minutes to reboot the Mac in 2006. The only downside is that the user has to choose which operating system to boot and needs a hard reset to switch over. Apple also added Windows drivers for the Mac’s hardware interface, which ran at full speed on a Mac Intel processor and behaved exactly like Windows on a PC. In 2006, Apple introduced a great new feature for Macs known as Boot Camp, which allows you to create a separate partition on your main or external drive, formatted and ready to install on Windows and other operating systems. This is an early release and most consumers shouldn’t worry, though it’s still interesting to see how far it’s gone. While the M1 processor brought changes that made the choice easier, the developers worked on a fix and now have a Linux installer available that runs on the latest Apple Mac and MacBook computers. Mackie Sure, computers come with macOS, but Apple has managed to install other operating systems in the past, including Linux and even Windows.
